Cellular Jail

Located 175 kilometres away from Chennai, the Cellular Gaol was built in 1906 as a far off located prison where the British would send Indian political prisoners. Now open to the public as a National Memorial and featuring exhibits illustrating the grave torture prisoners experienced. The place is also known as Kala Pani Gaol, which gives visitors a glimpse of the country’s past. There is a Freedom Fighters Photo and Exhibition Gallery in the ground floor and, on the first floor, in the Art gallery and Netaji gallery. The Light and Sound Show on India’s freedom struggle is also famous from this jail. Cellular jail open for all visiter.

Chidiya Tapu

Chidiya Tapu, 32km from Port Blair, is a bird watcher’s haven. From its rich variety of native and migratory birds (drongos, scarlet minivet, hanging parrot, long tailed and red breasted parakeets, emerald dove etc.), emerald dove, white bellied sea eagles, grey fronted and green pigeon, it is well known as a place where turbo snorkel, scuba diving and deep sea walking is common. Tourists are major attracted by two places, Chidiya Tapu Biological Park, Chidiya Tapu Beach, respectively, Munda Pahar beaches. The sunset and sunrise Point of the island is another visit that is worthy of your attention as sunset and sunrise views are breathtaking over there!

Radhanagar Beach

Radhanagar beach is one of most famous beaches of Andaman because of its beautiful white sandy sand and blue water. Located on the south coast of Havelock, it had coconut lined. One could either relax on the silky sand flanking the turquoise blue water or enjoy snorkelling and scuba diving while here. Other than this, there are also many cafes on the beach that serve local to global cuisines. This beach is a must visit for all, as great as it’s sunsets and sunrises are.

North Bay Beach

North Bay Island is one of the stunning Island in Port Blair that the locals refer to as Coral Island. But far more than its beautiful landscape, this island boasts wide variety of coral reefs and rich with lively underwater species which attract tourists to visit the island. You can do very many water sports like swimming, scuba diving, snorkelling, jet skiing and sea walking. It also has a lighthouse on the beach, giving one stunning views of the island. On Wednesdays, visitors are not allowed on the island.

Ross Island

Ross Island is 2 km away from Port Blair and is famous for its scenic beauty as well as for remnants of British era buildings. The administrative headquarters of the British was here, but was shifted to Port Blair as an earthquake took place here in 1941. Tourists could take the tour of the island and see (ruins of) a church, houses, stores, etc. Deer and peacocks could be seen on the island. Other big attractions include the British Chief Commissioner’s Bungalow and the Japanese Bunker. And in the island you could also stop by a bakery where you get snacks and beverages. On Wednesday the island remains closed to visitors.

Mount Harriet National Park

Mount Harriet National Park is the place where they had managed to experience nature at its ultimate form, because of its wide range of Flora and fauna. Named after the wife of a British army officer Robert Christopher Tyler, a nature lover and photographer, it was. The park is surrounded by evergreen forests with many mountains and sandy and rocky beaches with only a little sand on them. Streams from the hills make it even more ethereal. So for adventure lovers hiking and trekking is an important activity as the place has many spots for one and there are natural trek trails and pathways to trek. Also there is a Forest Guest House where tourists can rest and refresh themselves.

Kalapani Museum

The Kalapani Museum is a three storied history museum where history comes to life. It houses a collection of paintings and art of tribes, rare archived photographs, rare original documents and colonial and Japanese periods, rare original documents, rare archive photographs, rare documentary and films related to the island etc. Visitors to the Andaman Islands are able to see the history of the islands through miniature and life size models.

Baratang Island

Baratang, a gem with less knowling is raw beauty, mud volcanoes, thick mangrove forests and natural wonders. After the boat ride through the mangroves, get on and visit the limestone caves in the neighbourhood. Also, inside it may get slippery so you’d better wear comfortable shoes. Port Blair to Baratang journey is some scenic forested drives along with ferry crossing. However, Baratang can be visited from Port Blair in a day trip even though you have to leave early in the morning very early.

Elephant beach is famous for its lovely coral structure and outstanding marine life, and of course, it boasts tranquil surroundings combined with a pristine water body and a stunning sandy shore. Or of walking around or of engaging in the underwater world via a number of water sports activities. The beach is famous for its beautiful coral reefs and snorkelling and sea walking is liked by tourists. Another water activity one might do is kayaking. Many restaurants that serve delicious seafood are around the beach.

Samudrika Marine Museum

Situated in Port Blair, India, Samudrika Marine Museum is run by the Indian Navy, and offers insight on marine life around the islands. A place to house a spectacular range of flora and fauna inhabiting the pristine waters of the Andaman Sea. In addition to a collection of varied shells, corals and different species of colourful fishes, the museum gives a glimpse of the islands’ ecosystems and the tribal communities. There is a Curio shop on the campus, where visitors can purchase souvenirs such as handicraft items, bamboo crafts, shell products and so on. The museum is closed on Mondays and National Holidays.
