Mount Manipur National Park

Mount Manipur National Park

If you enjoy forests, scenic viewpoints, and peaceful places away from the crowds, Mount Manipur National Park, formerly known as Mount Harriet National Park, is one of the best day trips from Port Blair. The journey itself is part of the experience—after crossing to Bamboo Flat by ferry, a winding hill road takes you through dense tropical forests to one of the highest viewpoints in South Andaman.

Unlike the beaches that Andaman is famous for, this national park offers a completely different side of the islands. Fresh forest air, panoramic views of the sea, and rich biodiversity make it a favourite among nature lovers, birdwatchers, and photographers. The park is home to several endemic birds, butterflies, and tropical plant species found only in the Andaman Islands. From the viewpoint, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding islands and coastline, and it’s widely believed that this landscape inspired the image printed on the reverse side of the Indian ₹20 currency note.

Whether you want to spend a quiet morning in nature or take a break from beaches and water sports, Mount Manipur National Park offers an experience that’s both refreshing and memorable.
